Manchester
City are keen to land Lionel Messi next year and are prepared to pay
him a whopping £800,000-a-week to take him to the Etihad.
According to the UK Sun, City and Messi’s representatives have already
had initial discussions about the potential transfer. The Premier League
club have been encouraged that the 28-year-old is willing to leave
Barcelona in the summer.
Messi currently has two years left on his £500,000-a-week deal at
Camp Nou and is believed to be upset the La Liga club is not eager to
renew his contract.
Senior officials at City, believe they can
pull off the move, especially with a new TV deal worth £150million per
season set to kick in next season.
The Sun also claims that if
Messi arrives in England, it will improve the chances of the Etihad club
recruiting Pep Guardiola as their new manager
