Northern Govs Condemn Onitsha Violence, Takes Firm Measures To Prevent Spillover
Governors of the 19 northern states under the aegis of Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), yesterday condemned Wednesday’s violence in Onitsha, Anambra State as a result of activities of members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), calling for calm as well as preventive measures against any reprisals in the North.
Chairman of the forum and Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, said in a statement through his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau in Maiduguri, the state capital on Thursday that the forum had taken some firm but undisclosed measures to check any spill-over of the Onitsha violence in any of the northern states.
Saraki leads NASS delegation to Paris conference on environment

$2.1bn arms deal: I didn’t collect a kobo from Dasuki – Bafarawa
A former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa has exonerated himself of any involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal with ex-National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
Dasuki while being interrogated allegedly exposed those who were involved in the shady deal.

Amid anxiety and tension, voters in Kogi State will today
decide on who will govern them for the next four years, in an election that
will also serve as litmus test for the chairman of the INEC.
The Kogi governorship election, under way in all the 239 wards and over 2, 548 polling units across the 21 local government areas of the Confluence State, will see about 1.3 million registered voters take part. Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognised 22 political parties to participate in the election which some analysts have tagged ‘the battle between continuity and change’. Incumbent governor Idris Wada of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-governor, Prince Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are considered the main contenders in the battle for Lugard House, Lokoja.
