A
former presidential candidate of the African Liberation Party (ALP) Dr.
Emmanuel Osita Okereke has called on ex-minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode
to restrain from his continued verbal attacks on President Muhammad Buhari.
Addressing
journalists in Enugu on Thursday, Okereke who is also the Director General,
National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunitions and
Light Weapons (NATFORCE), advised Fani-Kayode to be very careful “having been
in government for the past sixteen (16) years and achieved nothing.”
Okereke, who is equally the president of Importers Association of Nigeria
(IMAN), however, warned that an attack on President Buhari “is an attack
directed to Nigerians since the president is a corporate personality. Therefore
whatever he does, he does in the name of Nigeria.
“Fani-Kayode
has been involved in the government since 1999 to 2015 and somebody like him
should not be talking. He was a minister of Culture and Tourism and a minister
for Aviation. As a minister, Fani-Kayode could not renovate one single airport.
Can he tell us this is his achievement as minister of aviation? Can he tell us
this is his achievement as minister of Culture and tourism? He was special
adviser to Obasanjo.”
“When
he became the spokesman of Jonathan campaign organization, what was his achievement?
If he had capacity as a media person he would have found out the fault and the
problem while Jonathan could not win the election. So I look at him as a
failure”, Okereke said.
Okereke
said since Fani-Kayode and his pay masters had power for sixteen years but
could not manage the power to transform Nigeria and better the lives of
Nigerians, he should allow somebody Nigerians have given power to lead them to
do so.
